easy file sharing and streaming done right

wow. this is pretty amazing. the opera browser has a utility built in to allow secure file sharing from your computer to anywhere else that is connected to the internet. once it's set up, your home computer pretty much acts as a web server through opera's dynamic dns service. they've got tools to allow you to set up an audio streaming page that is password protected, giving you access to your entire music collection without the hassle of uploading to cloud storage (and without the cost).

i'm totally setting this up tonight.

orb? what's that?

orb uses mycast (whatever that is) to turn your computer into a media server. you can view and stream any media on your hard drive remotely via their super slow, bloated, annoying and buggy web app. the web app is also another freaking social network. i tried exporting a playlist from songbird to orb so i could share it with y'all, but all kinds of terrible things happened instead and i threw my computer out the window.

once i get the opera thing set up, i'll send you a link and password. not sure what all media can be streamed, but audio is for sure.
